Caring for Life-Limited Children, Northern Ireland - final

By Paul Hutchinson | Project Leader - Rotary Club Newtownabbey

Good news may be a rare commodity, however for the project Caring for Life-Limited Children, Northern Ireland, it's not only Good News but Great News - our project is now complete!

Thanks to you, the most amazing group of supporters and donors from near and far, who answered our call to meet the needs of young children (and their families) reaching out to the services of Horizon House, the home of The Children's Hospice, Northern Ireland. We at Rotary Newtownabbey have never ceased to be amazed with the generosity of the many folk who chose to support our project. Your response has been overwhelming and both we and the Hospice are so grateful for the totality of the outcome.

All the equipment previously detailed and pictured in our last report is now in place, in use and in demand: the paediatric bed; the cocoons (protective mattresses); the overhead hoists together with the Buddy Roamer (walker aid) and Freedom Trike (fun-designed, colourful, adjustable bike - allowing kids just to be kids, even during therapy sessions!).
Not sure who may be enjoying it all the most, the children or the staff, but certainly all are benefitting from the availability of the much needed equipment. In a word - awesome!

Thank you for making the project journey so rewarding for the folk involved at Horizon House - the young children and families using the services of the hospice and assisting the staff in delivering the essential care. For the members of Rotary Newtownabbey it has been an amazing experience - both enjoyable and humbling in so many ways. Thank you for partnering with us.
