Over the past three months, ONI Mexico has continued providing nutritional monitoring and support to children and families in the Mesa del Tirador community. Despite operational and weather-related challenges, the results observed between May and July show important progress in the nutritional well-being of the children participating in the program.

In May 2026, the program had 1200 registered beneficiaries, with 1040 participants attending during the period. Nutritional assessments showed that 88% of the children evaluated had a normal nutritional status, while 16% presented mild malnutrition and 16% were classified as overweight. No cases of moderate or severe malnutrition or obesity were reported.

By June, the number of registered beneficiaries increased to 1235, and monthly attendance rose to 1070 participants. Nutritional indicators also improved: 63% of the children evaluated were within the normal nutritional range, while overweight decreased from 16% to 9%. Mild malnutrition decreased to 5%, although 1% of participants presented moderate malnutrition. No cases of severe malnutrition or obesity were identified.

The most significant progress was observed in July 2026. The program reached 269 registered beneficiaries, and 97% of the children assessed presented a normal nutritional status. Most importantly, among the beneficiaries evaluated during the month, no cases of mild, moderate, or severe malnutrition were identified. Overweight remained at 3%, while no cases of obesity were reported.

Attendance decreased to 980 participants in July. This reduction was mainly related to adverse weather conditions and operational schedule changes that delayed the team's usual arrival time at the community center. As a result, some beneficiaries were no longer present when services were provided. These circumstances have helped us identify opportunities to strengthen scheduling and coordination to maintain continuity of care.

These results reinforce the importance of continuous nutritional monitoring and sustained community-based support. Moving from 88% of evaluated beneficiaries with normal nutritional status in May to 97% in July represents encouraging progress and reflects the value of maintaining consistent follow-up with children and their families.

In the coming months, ONI Mexico will continue strengthening attendance, nutritional monitoring, and community engagement while adapting operational strategies to the conditions of the community.

Thank you for making this work possible. Your support allows us to remain present in communities where children and families face nutritional vulnerability and to continue working toward healthier childhoods and stronger futures.
