Provide Nutritional Porridge to Orphans in GOMA

Introduction

The project "Provide Nutritional Porridge to Orphans in Goma" aims to provide vital food support to orphans in Goma, North Kivu province, Democratic Republic of Congo. Specifically, it focuses on delivering enriched porridge, which is designed to meet the essential nutritional needs of these vulnerable children. This support aims to improve their physical well-being and support their healthy development by providing necessary proteins, carbohydrates, vitamins, lipids, and minerals essential for their growth.

Project Objectives

1. Provide nutritional porridge to 210 orphans in orphanages in Goma.
2. Ensure a balanced diet to support the children’s physical and mental health.
3. Reduce malnutrition risks and improve the overall health of vulnerable children.
4. Strengthen local and international partnerships to enhance the sustainability and impact of the project.

Project Justification

The orphans in Goma live under precarious conditions, often suffering from malnutrition due to widespread poverty and lack of access to nutritious food. The enriched porridge proposed in this project will be a direct response to the children’s food deficiencies, providing them with the essential nutrients for a healthy life. By ensuring proper nutrition, the project will also help strengthen their immunity, promote their cognitive and physical development, and offer them a chance to live a healthier and more fulfilling life.

Project Budget

The total estimated cost of the project is 5000 USD, which will cover the production, distribution, and management of the enriched porridge. To date, 140 USD has been raised, and with the help of GlobalGiving, we expect to reach 50% of the fundraising goal in February in order to start the project.
The total funding will cover the following expenses:

• Purchase of ingredients for the enriched porridge
• Transport and logistics for distribution
• Project management and monitoring
