Nourishing Orphans in Goma

Project Background
The “Nourish Orphans with Vital Nutritional Porridge” project aims to support 210 orphans in Goma, North Kivu, Democratic Republic of Congo. These vulnerable children face significant food insecurity, and their current diet lacks essential nutrients for proper growth and development.

Project Objectives

  • Combat malnutrition among the 210 children.
  • Provide enriched porridge containing proteins, carbohydrates, vitamins, lipids, and minerals essential for their health.
  • Improve the children’s physical and mental development.
  • Ensure a lasting positive impact on the orphans’ quality of life and future potential.

Planned Actions

  • Regular distribution of nutrient-rich porridge tailored to the children’s needs.
  • Identification of trainers and learners to manage preparation and distribution.
  • Monitoring the health and well-being of the beneficiaries to measure the project’s impact.

Budget and Funding
The total budget for the project is $5,000. So far, thanks to our collaboration with GlobalGiving, we have already raised $140. We are confident that, with continued donor support, we will reach our target.

Expected Impact

  • Significant reduction of malnutrition among the children.
  • Improvement in physical growth and cognitive development.
  • Strengthened ability for children to actively participate in their community in the long term.

Current Phase
We are currently in the phase of identifying trainers and learners, and the project will officially launch in November 2025.

Call to Donors
We invite all donors and partners to join this vital initiative. Your support will ensure regular access to nutritious food for these vulnerable children and give them a chance to grow up healthier. Every contribution, big or small, will make a real difference in their lives.

Acknowledgements
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all who have already contributed, and we especially thank GlobalGiving for their support in fundraising and promoting this project. Thanks to your generosity, we can give these children a healthier and brighter future.
