First class on compost manure course in action!

Setting the plot of compost heap

Hi dear donors and friends,

On 25th October 2024, we held our first meeting with farmers at Oldonyong’iro village regarding preparation for compost manure for their farms. Mr. Solomon, our composting expert, explained to the farmers students how the use of compost manure will benefit them and it is cheap because they will not incur any cost as well as it
is chemical free.

The farmers were very interested and will join our course the coming months, as they are going to produce compost manure themselves with the guidance of Mr. Solomon. In the next month they made a compost heap themselfs and they were teached how to do it and how to use the compost.

In this spring the first class of 11 student farmers will graduate by planting a plot of fruit trees with compost manure added. This will be a demonstration plot for new farmers to show the benifits of compost for there crop production.

With the upcoming Tree Giving Day 2025, end February, Mr. Solomon goes with the compost ambassadors to another village. There we hand out silky oak trees to farmers and educated them about compost manure producing. The farmers will teach new farmer how to do this. So we spread the knowledge of good soil preparation, with less fertilyzers and less chemicals for crop protection.

Hope you will continue to support our students; they get a T-shirt of Destiny Hope Foundation to show their dedication to our growing green community in Arusha area.

Best Regards,

Pendaeli Amos and Peter de Laat
