IHF Nurses for Night Care 2018 Update

By Lucy McKeever | Fundraising Assistant

With your support in 2018, 663 people and their families were helped with our Nurses for Night Care service. We provided 2,015 nights of care free of charge.  Each night of care costs around  €327 and this gives someone the choice and dignity to spend their final hours at home, with their loved ones and memories.

''It is a privilege to be there with somebody who is dying and it's lovely to be with their family at this time.  They're so thankful. The're looking at you like you're their angel.  You're their rock really."
Fiona Mulchrone, IHF Nurse for Nightcare

What the service offers
This service enables those people who are living with illness such as dementia, motor neurone disease, advanced respiratory disease, heart failure, and end stage kidney disease to receive expert care, support and reassurance in their final nights.

How the service works
The nurses stay in the home throughout the night, providing nursing care, practical help and reassurance to both patient and family. The service can give a significant support for families at what can be a very difficult time.

Once again thank you for supporting our Nurses for Night Care programme. Without your support or the support from people like you we would not be able to provide nursing care, practical help and reassurance to both patients and their families in their own homes.
