Once again Thank You for supporting our Nurses for Night Care programme. Without your support or the support from people like you we would not be able to provide nursing care, practical help and reassurance to both patients and their families in their own homes.
Every year 71% of deaths in Ireland are caused by diseases other than cancer. Nurses for Night Care provides professional, direct assistance to allow people to spend their final days at home. Additionally, it provides much needed respite and support for families and carers.
Thanks to your support, so far this year 369 people and their families were helped with this service and we provided 1,167 nights of care free of charge. Each night of care costs around €320 and this gives someone the choice and dignity to spend their final hours at home, with their loved ones and memories.
One daughter of a Night Nursing patient explains just how important this service is to the patient and the family.
“We can’t put into words how much it meant to us. We will be forever grateful to have mum home during her final days and that will stay with us forever. Mam deserved the care and dignity she was afforded. The Night Nurse was an angel”.
Our objective is to ensure that everyone who wants to die at home throughout Ireland is granted their final wish.
