The new primary school in Famana is completely built and will be ready for the beginning of the school year in Mali, which is October 1st!
The village and the kids are so excited, and grateful, for their new school building!
The school construction also included building the chicken coop and the garden.
At all of our 11 village schools we include nutrition training in the curriculum, but Famana is our pilot program combining the nutrition training in the classroom with the practical knowledge they will learn in the garden. This garden will follow our Women’s Training Garden model in the hopes of teaching children about the importance of: a varied and nutritious diet, how to grow food properly, preserve food properly, use composting and not chemical fertilizers, and ultimately take these and many more lessons back to their families.
The Women’s Training Garden is still up and running, with the goal of training over 150 women this year!
Our in country Field Director reported that they had a long and very rainy, rainy season, and he is hopeful of having a bountiful harvest.
It is only through the support and generous gifts from people like you that we can continue to do this important work and expand our programs to benefit more people – particularly children.
We are thankful for your continued support and willingness to invest in a sustainable model of development that will positively impact villagers for generations to come.
Thank you!
