Our community is growing!

Looking back at the reports over the years, it’s great to see how far we’ve come:

In 2014, we supplied the nutrition program with new pots, simple cooking stoves, bowls and utensils.

In 2015, we increased the program from once a week to twice a week in an effort to address the devastating food insecurity faced by many of our HIV+ patients and their families.

We built a roof over the cooking area to protect the participants from sun exposure and annual downpours during the rainy season.

The association formed by the HIV+ women is also growing: They renewed their membership and transferred roles and responsibilities to new women leaders in the group. This is a positive sign of their growing engagement with management and associative responsibilities.

All this was made possible through donor support; in fact, GAIA’s nutrition program is entirely funded by individual donors like you.

We are proud to say there is a growing interest and participation in this program by the HIV+ community in Sikoro. In fact, program participation increased by an amazing 29% in 2016! Our growing participants are both adults and children, and we want to continue the support for this community as it grows.

However, our budget is limited to donor contributions. This year, we don’t need new pots or a new roof; we just need more food so we can keep serving meals to our growing community!

Your support makes this program possible, and we are very grateful!
