Cancer patients undergoing treatment in Ghana often face malnutrition, which negatively impacts their recovery. Adjah Cancer Support Ghana aims to provide tailored nutritional support for cancer patients, ensuring they have the strength and resilience to endure treatment. This project will supply nutrient-dense meals, supplements, and counseling to 500 patients annually, with a focus on vulnerable populations.
Malnutrition is a common issue among cancer patients in Ghana, often caused by treatment side effects, financial struggles, and a lack of nutritional knowledge. This worsens their prognosis and increases treatment complications. Rural patients, in particular, face the added burden of limited access to nutritious food.
This project will: Provide tailored meal plans rich in vitamins and proteins to meet patients' needs. Distribute food supplements for those experiencing severe malnutrition. Offer nutrition education and counseling to patients and caregivers. Partner with local farms and suppliers to source affordable, healthy foods.
Improved nutrition will boost patients' strength and immune systems, enhancing their ability to withstand treatment. Education will empower caregivers to make healthier food choices, fostering sustainable, long-term change in the fight against cancer.
