Cancer treatment often causes malnutrition, impacting patients' health and recovery. This project provides nutritious food parcels to underprivileged cancer patients and their families, supporting their dietary needs during treatment and improving overall health outcomes.
Many cancer patients in Ghana face malnutrition due to treatment side effects like appetite loss, nausea, and financial constraints that make accessing balanced, nutritious food challenging. For low-income families, covering medical bills leaves little for essential dietary needs, compromising patients' strength and immunity. Malnutrition weakens patients further, affecting their treatment response, increasing complications, and reducing their quality of life.
This project provides cancer patients and their families with monthly nutritious food parcels, including protein-rich foods, fresh fruits, and essential supplements that aid recovery and strengthen immunity. In partnership with hospitals, we will identify families in need and work with local food suppliers to ensure cost-effective distribution.
Providing nutrition support will improve cancer patients' physical strength, resilience to treatment, and overall well-being. This support allows families to focus on treatment without worrying about the added financial strain of sourcing nutritious food. In the long run, this initiative will reduce malnutrition rates among cancer patients in Ghana, improve treatment adherence, and enhance survival rates, creating a model for comprehensive cancer care support in the region.
