Since our last update on the launch of the Oasis 3.0 Project, we are thrilled to report the successful completion of the “Imagine” workshops - engaging with 50 students to shape the playground’s design, while imparting knowledge on architectural design and the significance of clean water and sanitation.
The school students have learnt about measurement tools to enhance knowledge in areas such as proportion and scale. Local identities have been explored which has influenced pattern designs for the mural to be constructed. Additionally, Lego models were crafted for real-scale replication - bringing their playground designs to life!
Students showcased their final designs and visions for the school playground, presenting to parents, teachers, and peers. The winning design, "El Castillo de las Aventuras" or "The Castle of Adventures," revolves around a large water fountain resembling a mountain adorned with tree and fruit patterns. Building on lessons from our second Oasis project, we plan to incorporate a sustainable rainwater harvesting system, ensuring clean water access for the school's 1000 students.
The chosen playground elements include monkey bars, a maze, conical towers with slides, a climbing wall, a sandbox, bleachers with planters, and a stage. The overall aim of the design is to create an inclusive space optimising space for playground games and serving as a cultural hub for theatre, presentations, and other events within the broader school community.
As we embark on the next phase — actualising the construction of the playground — we extend our heartfelt gratitude for your support with this initiative. Thank you!
