Ofarim School November 2025 Project Report

By Nahum Bloch | School principal

Dear Donors,
As the new school year begins, our hearts are filled with pride and excitement to see the school’s hallways once again come alive with laughter, movement, and the joyful spirit of our wonderful students.
At our school, which serves children on the autism spectrum, each year brings new stories of growth, learning, and hope. This year, in particular, we feel a fresh and inspiring energy flowing through the classrooms.
At the start of the year, we welcomed new classes, including a group of young students beginning their journey in first grade. Every morning, they arrive with smiles, curiosity, and boundless energy and it fills our hearts with pride to see them taking their first steps in the world of learning, each at their own pace, supported with love and care by our dedicated staff.
During the summer break, Principal Nahum Bloch worked tirelessly to create additional learning spaces within the school.
A new bicycle yard was established, equipped with bicycles of various sizes, allowing each student to practice balance, enjoy movement, and engage in shared activities with friends.
In collaboration with parents, Nahum also obtained approval for the construction of a new rooftop activity a unique area, fully equipped space designed with care by students from the Technion. The rooftop now hosts a variety of activities, from experiential learning to social gatherings and outdoor play all in a safe, well designed, and accessible environment.
Thanks to your generous donations, we were able to purchase essential equipment for this new space, including motor skill development tools, low chairs for art and music lessons, and cozy seating areas facing the sea.
Children on the autism spectrum often struggle to communicate their needs, wishes, or discomfort to others. To help them express themselves, our leadership team decided to integrate an innovative typing communication program into the curriculum. Through this program, our students learn to use typing as a means of communication expressing their thoughts, emotions, and desires, and connecting with those around them in a powerful and empowering way.
The moments when a student “speaks” for the first time through the keyboard are truly unforgettable. Our staff is undergoing professional training, attending lectures and workshops to gain a deeper understanding of this important approach.
This school year begins during a time of relative calm in the country, which brings a sense of safety and peace of mind to our students, parents, and staff. This serenity allows us to focus on what truly matters learning, human connection, and the personal growth of every student.
As part of our expanding outdoor education program, the students regularly visit an urban community farm, where they learn about nature, plant growth, and environmental responsibility a hands-on experience that strengthens their sense of belonging and capability.
We also continue our volunteer program with students from other schools. Each week, young volunteers from the community join our students for shared activities, fostering genuine friendships based on inclusion, sensitivity, and mutual respect. For our students, these encounters open a window into the social world, while for the volunteers, they offer a meaningful lesson in empathy and kindness.
We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your partnership, your continued support, and your faith in our mission.
Thanks to you, we are able to provide our students with a dynamic, innovative learning environment one filled with renewal, growth, and joy. Every smile and every small success remind us that anything is possible.
With appreciation,
The Staff of the Special Education School
