We are three IlluminXation students-Sabrina from Jamaica and Amaia and Adiya siblings from Trinidad-leading a youth-driven effort to support 500 or more Jamaican families devastated by Hurricane Melissa. Many lost homes, essentials, and face health risks. We aim to supply food, water, hygiene items, medical supplies, baby care, and shelter materials by Dec 31, 2025. With your help, we can restore safety and dignity to those most in need.
Hurricane Melissa devastated western Jamaica, leaving families without their livelihood, homes, food, water, or safe shelter and exposing them to diseases like leptospirosis, dengue, and malaria. Hundreds of students also lost school supplies and cannot return to class. Moved by this crisis, Sabrina an IlluminXation Inc. student from Jamaica, and her Trinidadian peers Amaia and Adiya also from IlluminXation, are leading a youth-driven relief effort.
This project will provide urgent relief to at least 500 displaced families by shipping containers of essential supplies by December 31, 2025. Support will include: Non-perishable food and bottled water; Hygiene, sanitation; and medical supplies; Bedding, clothing, and baby care items; Mosquito nets and repellents; Temporary shelter materials and basic construction tools; school supplies (backpacks, books, learning material, and school kits). These provisions will help stabilize families.
This project will accelerate recovery by restoring essential resources, improving health outcomes, and enabling safe reconstruction. Access to construction tools and shelter materials will strengthen local resilience, helping families better withstand future disasters. By supporting students with new school supplies, the project protects long-term academic achievement, emotional well-being, and future opportunities for vulnerable children. This initiative showcases the power of Youth Leadership.
