A Water Cup Weaves a Warm Bond

By Zoey | Cooperation Development Manager

Recently, We received a message from San Yue, a long-time friend of the Clean Water Project. "I still have such vivid memories of the water purification equipment from my childhood," he shared. "Back then, we all had a habit of 'sharing water'. Once we finished the water we brought in the morning, we would split what was left in our classmates’ half-full kettles." Then one day, a classmate rushed back to the classroom shouting, "Our water room has been renovated!" At that moment, he truly felt that there were people out there genuinely looking out for them. He remarked: "Many people instinctively doubt public welfare initiatives, but now you realize these efforts are real and down-to-earth, making tangible differences." Earlier this year, a project partner in Yunnan shared a story from a local school principal. A young girl named Xiao Le had lost the water cup provided through the Clean Water Project and was too upset to go to school. The cups were allocated strictly by headcount with no spares available, so the partner reached out to the project team for help. Almost at the exact same time, One Foundation received a message and a donation from netizen San Yue. The boy who once relied on sharing water with classmates had now become a donor. Now a high school student, he uses his saved pocket money every month to help more children in need. In this unexpected way, two strangers were wonderfully connected by a simple water cup. When San Yue learned his donation would help the little girl saddened by her lost cup, he fell silent for a few seconds and said: "Money itself has no life, but right now, it has been given real vitality."
