Helmets for Kids: A growing legacy

By Khe Nguyen | Development Assistant

To further provide road safety education and quality helmets for young road users across Vietnam, AIP Foundation has geared towards #GivingTuesday2021 with the message of empowerment to all of our friends and partners. In this difficult global context, we feel that #GivingTuesday is even more important to support our vulnerable communities.

As part of the growing legacy of the Helmets for Kids Program, AIP Foundation with support from Johnson & Johnson, continues to expand one of our signature programs to another three new schools in Thai Nguyen city. These project schools are located in areas at high risk for crashes. The expansion was launched with an orientation workshop and teacher training co-hosted by our Government partners in the province.

65 dedicated teachers from 13 project schools in the region gathered for the orientation workshop and training. The training provided an opportunity to increase the teachers’ expertise and skills on proper helmet use, by learning various head sizes measurement methods. The purpose of the training was also to introduce interactive teaching methods on Road Safety, especially on helmet safety. Teachers were introduced to educational materials on helmet safety that will be distributed in the project schools. After the training, the teachers shared that they felt better equipped to safeguard every student from the dangers of the road, and inspired to promote road safety to their students by imparting the life-saving skills they learned.

This expansion comes as a testament of trust from our partner in the progress we have made in road safety, as well as a reminder that there is still work to be done to ensure our young generations are well equipped and empowered as smart road users.
