On March 22, 2025, the AIP Foundation, in partnership with Prudential Vietnam, the National Traffic Safety Committee (NTSC), the Ministry of Education and Training, and local stakeholders, held its first-ever Interprovincial Road Safety Day in PleiKu City, Gia Lai. The event commemorated five years of the successful “SafeStepsKids - Road Safety” project in Vietnam, drawing more than 500 participants - students, parents, teachers, and officials - from Gia Lai, Quang Ngai, and Yen Bai provinces.

Seven schools competed in an interactive quiz competition with unique rounds - Warm-up, Overcoming Obstacles, and Reaching the Finish Line - where Viet Thanh Primary & Secondary School earned the title of “SuperJunior Road Safety Champions.” Paired with the quiz, students engaged in interactive activities and experienced a virtual reality module featuring The Amazing World of Gumball, facilitated by 40 volunteers from Prudential Vietnam.

Mr. Le Kim Thanh, Vice Chairman of the NTSC, applauded the collaboration between AIP Foundation, Prudence Foundation, Prudential Vietnam, and local authorities. He emphasized that initiatives like this not only enhance school zone safety but also instill lifelong road safety awareness among children - crucial for reducing traffic injuries.

Since its launch in 2020, the “SafeStepsKids - Road Safety” project in Vietnam has combined education, community engagement, media outreach, and infrastructure improvement to create a safer commute for students. Key interventions included the integration of road safety lessons into school curricula, delivery of interactive extracurricular activities, helmet and road safety equipment donations, school zone renovations, and the installation of safety billboards. Throughout this journey, the project has reached around 15,000 students and 821 teachers spanning 23 schools across 6 provinces in Vietnam, upgraded 15 school zones to meet iRAP safety standards and distributed over 14,600 helmets to protect young commuters.

Part of the SAFESTEPSKIDS program - developed by Prudence Foundation in collaboration with Cartoon Network and the IFRC - the “SafeStepsKids - Road Safety” project operates across several Asian nations including Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore. The successful interprovincial event in Gia Lai underscores AIP Foundation’s ongoing commitment to making every child’s journey to school safer in Vietnam and beyond.
