Extracurricular activities are a major component of the Asia Injury Prevention (AIP) Foundation’s Helmets for Kids program. These activities are enacted to reinforce students’ awareness of child helmet use and road safety. Hundreds of Vietnamese students participated in engaging road safety themed games and performances these past few months.
Last November, 39 Helmets for Kids schools in Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, and Dong Nai provinces participated in “Making Traffic Safety Fun” talent shows. These shows were the first extracurricular events under the Helmets for Kids program to gather schools province-wide. Through the arts of song, dance, and fashion, students and teachers showcased their road safety knowledge and expressed their commitment to helmet use and safe road behavior. Representatives from the Vietnamese government, AIP Foundation, and corporate partners played the role of talent show judges.
AIP Foundation organized a Traffic Safety Day on December 11th at Chuong Duong Primary School in Hanoi. More than 380 individuals, including students and teachers of Chuong Duong Primary School, attended the event. Students participated in traffic safety games and were educated on how to wear helmets correctly. Traffic Safety Day was a project component of our Helmets for Families program in Ho Chi Minh City and Tra Vinh Province.
An extracurricular event was organized at Ai Quoc Primary School in Hanoi on December 16th. Over 850 individuals attended, including students, teachers, and parents of Ai Quoc Primary School; the Ai Quoc Bureau of Education and Training; and the Ai Quoc People’s Committee and Youth Union. Parents and teachers teamed up with students to learn about the importance of using helmets and being safe on the roads.
Thanks to your support, we were able to provide students with these fun opportunities to understand the importance of wearing helmets when traveling by motorcycle or bicycle. We will continue reinforcing this life-saving message over the coming months.
