Healing Tim's Invisible Wounds - Journey to Hope

The deepest wounds children carry are often the ones we cannot see. Emotional trauma can quietly steal a child’s confidence, joy, and sense of safety. Through the #OneBobHero campaign, supporters like you are helping us restore hope and healing for children facing these invisible battles.

One such story is Tim’s.

Tim’s Experience

When 14-year-old Tim first came into contact with Childline Kenya, something was clearly wrong. He had suddenly decided that he no longer wanted to go to school. The once energetic boy had become quiet and withdrawn.

It seemed that something deeply traumatizing had happened to him, leaving emotional scars that caused him to retreat from everyone around him including his teachers, his friends, and even members of his own family.

At Childline Kenya, we started with the most important step: listening.

Listening to Tim… even when no words came from his mouth.

But listening was only the beginning.

True healing required time, patience, and specialized trauma therapy. These are services made possible through the contributions of compassionate supporters like you.

Through regular counseling sessions, combined with play and art therapy led by trained child therapists at the Child helpline centre, Tim slowly began to rebuild his confidence. Week after week, he learned to express his feelings, confront his fears, and rediscover a sense of safety.

Then, months later, something beautiful happened.

Tim smiled again!

Before long, he agreed to return to school. He began playing football with other children in his neighborhood and gradually reconnected with the world around him. Today, his teachers describe him as one of the most enthusiastic students in his class.

When asked what he wants to become in the future, Tim answers without hesitation:

“I want to help other children who feel scared like I once did.”

Tim’s recovery was made possible through the combined efforts of Childline Kenya therapists, his own determination, the support of his family and friends, and the generous contributions received through the #OneBobHero campaign. Without this support, the consistent, weekly care Tim needed might not have been possible.

The Power of One Bob (Kenyan Shilling)

Tim’s story is a powerful reminder that even small contributions can transform a child’s life.

The #OneBobHero campaign is built on a simple but powerful idea: if 20 million Kenyans each contributed just one shilling every month, we could generate enough resources to ensure that over 689 children every month receive critical support services.

These include:

  1. Specialized trauma therapy
  2. Emergency rescue and family tracing
  3. Temporary shelter and protection
  4. Medical care and medication
  5. Legal support to pursue justice

Each one of these services can mean the difference between a childhood defined by pain and one filled with hope, healing, and opportunity.

Become a #OneBobHero

Your support through the #OneBobHero campaign does more than rescue children, it helps them heal, grow, and believe in their future again.

Together, we can ensure that many more children like Tim receive the care and protection they deserve.

Make your commitment today and help save a child.

Every shilling matters.
Every child matters.
Be a #OneBobHero.
