The continuing humanitarian crisis in Lebanon has placed significant pressure on children and families, with continuing displacement, economic hardship, and disruptions to education affecting children’s development and well-being.
According to recent estimates, around 1 in 3 school-aged children in Lebanon are out of school or out of learning.
Thus this kindergarten is addressing an important issue.
It is accredited by the Lebanese Ministry of Education and Higher Education and it implements the Community-Based Early Childhood Education curriculum. The curriculum is designed to provide developmentally appropriate learning opportunities while equipping children with the foundational knowledge, skills, and competencies required for a successful transition into the Lebanese formal education system at the elementary level.
The community-based early childhood education provided at the kindergarten is a huge benefit to the local community. an important protective and developmental service.
This academic year there are 122 children enrolled across KG1, KG2, and KG3, supported by five classrooms and 12 locally employed women. The center provides an important foundation for children’s educational development and transition into formal schooling. The five classrooms ensure age-appropriate learning.
This approach not only strengthens the kindergarten’s operational and educational capacity but also contributes to the economic empowerment of women within the local community.
The majority of the teachers are refugees.
