Dear friends,
We are excited to share the successful planting and distribution of 30,000 fruit trees in Uganda this month!
Having returned from project implementation this week, we are still reveling in the good that comes from the simple act of planting fruit trees. This project's success comes from working alongside students of all ages, teachers, local government, passionate community leaders, and our skilled local team to bring the many benefits of orchards to thousands of people.
We also spent time meeting with those who have received trees from FTPF in previous years, including Betty Namukose who makes 20% of her income from the mango trees given to her as part of this program. She says she has been able to expand her farm and improve her home, all thanks to her trees.
We also visited a school that has planted over 500 trees through our project and now has a thriving orchard to benefit the 900 live-in students. The head teacher says the children line up to receive fresh fruit as snacks and also spend time with her in the orchard watering and caring for the trees.
These are just two of many of examples we saw this week of the power of fruit trees to effect positive change. And it is needed now more than ever, as environmental and social pressures impact the daily lives of Ugandans.
If you are able, please consider making a donation to help us continue planting tens of thousands of trees for families and farmers in Uganda so that the myriad benefits of thriving fruit trees can reach those who need them.
To a fruitful future for Uganda,
The FTPF Team
