Dear friends,
As part of our work in Uganda, it is important that we stay in touch with program participants to provide support, share knowledge and learnings, and continue improving the program. These visits also give us the chance to see the literal fruits of our labor — as we did when we visited farmer Betty Namukose in the Busoga region of eastern Uganda.
Betty planted mango trees on her land in 2015, and now that the trees are mature, the harvests generate 20% of her income. These earnings have allowed her to expand her farm and improve her home, a testament to the power of fruit trees to support rural livelihoods.
Building on her success with mangoes, Betty hopes to add 100 avocado trees to her orchard. She also asked if we could help plant trees at the school next door, so students can enjoy fresh fruit (without having to pick from her orchard!).
Our work to bring fruit trees to small-holder farmers and schools in Uganda helps families increase income, improve nutrition, and establish lasting connections between communities and the land. We want to help Betty and the school get the trees they need and are asking for your help to do so!
Please consider donating today to support our efforts to plant mangoes, avocados, and other important fruit trees with farmers, schools, and communities across Uganda.
Webale nyo (thank you very much),
