Project Report | Mar 5, 2019
I am dress designers now

By Huma Aslam | Project Leader

Kashmala Hassan is a matriculate and belongs to a slim area of Malik Riaz Colony, Mirpurkhas. She has three sisters and three brothers, out of seven just two kids are studying. Indeed, poverty is the reason of rest of 5 kids are out of school because single mother is unable to feed an eight members family as well as enroll them in school. Father of Kashmala Hassan passed away some 7 years ago.

Before getting training of Dress Designing, I used to work in homes to support my mother in washing clothes and dishes as well as preparing food and serving the food. It was really an embarrassing job for me to work in others homes as a servant.  But after joining the training course of ARTS Foundation through the GlobalGiving, the technical skills of sewing clothes, this helped me to increase my income. With the help of ARTS Foundation I participated in exhibitions and earned 7500 rupees after selling my products. This was my first success. From that money I purchased one used (second hand) latest model machine for embroidery work too, as it saves my time and also gives good quality embroidery according to the market demand. I appointed one girl as helper, she helps me in my work, after bringing quality in my work people started trusting me, and they started giving me orders for the big marriage ceremonies and festivals.

In future I want to establish vocational center at my home level so that I can provided training and employment for poor girls who live in my slim area. I want to see my name among international dress designer and I hope the GlobalGiving and ARTS Foundation through the donors like you will keep its supporting role in full filling my ambitions.
