‘Before the dress making training, I did not know I had a purpose in life. Now life is so exciting! I have realized I have the power to be a role model for orphan girls of my area. No doubt, six months dress making training stitched my purpose in life. I am a skilled and a decent earning girl in my 5 members family including 3 sisters and 1 brother,’ says Shahida Hayat. Adding more about her learning she says, ‘we are taught everything, right from sketching, drafting, cutting and stitching.
The course includes more than just dress making but it was about color combinations, fashion designs, marketing and dealing with customers. The course has focus on building confidence among orphan girls to augment their interpersonal and negotiation skills to deal with clients/customers.
Shahida Hayat adds, ‘I think we have succeeded in opening a small door to opportunity for the other orphan girls of my relatives and the areas as well.’
ARTS Foundation under GlobalGiving provides these girls with the basic materials they need for the course, like fabric etc as well as pick and drop facility as these orphan girls can’t bear travel and transport expenses. Indeed, ARTS Foundation is very thankful to the philanthropists for making this whole possible through their generous online funding.
