Dear ARTS Foundation’s Project Supporters,

Orphan Girls Empowerment through Vocational Skills Project by Advocacy, Research, Training and Services (ARTS) Foundation - Pakistan

It is immense pleasure for me to share with you the project’s first progress report via Global Giving to update with regard to achievements made through your generous support to empower most vulnerable segments i.e. orphan girls living in remote areas of Sindh province of Pakistan.

In the reporting period, the project has identifies and validated 50 orphan girls of age 18-24 years from most deprived communities to enrolled by establishing a well-equipped ARTS Skill Development Center. The project team is in process to get affiliated the ARTS Skill Development Center with Technical Testing Board (TTB) to have validated and recognized certification to orphan girls on successful completion of vocational training to connect them with decent work.

One of the trainees summed up her feelings about this training support, "I am really thank to ARTS Foundation and the donors of this project those have thought over our vulnerability and the potential we do possess, the orphan girls are like rest of girls. The orphan girls could be very productive and independent as rest of girls through education and skills. I did prove a fast learner and I have learned to make complete baby dresses in the period of one month only. I am earning more than Rs.1000/- to Rs.1700/- per month and with the consent of my grandmother, my brother is admitted in class one in a Government Primary School”.

Another trainee shared that, “I had never thought that I will do anything in my life due to polio affected and an orphan girl as well but no words to me express my feelings and impact of this training on me and my brothers and sisters. This vocational training has changed my entire life and my thinking also. I am no more confidence less and dependent now. The project team and our trainer have given me re-birthed through counseling, emotional support, exposure visits of market and vocational training skills. And such support has enabled me that even in first month I am able to make complete dresses of the kids either girl or boy babies. I am an earning member of the family now”.

The other exciting aspects of the project are counseling, exposure visits of markets and networking in order to develop confidence level of orphan girls and earning/employment opportunities. The project will provide training to 150 orphan girls in 12 months.

Till to date, the project has raised $4570 out of $10557. Therefore, we would like to request you to support our project to achieve 100% targets in due time.

Thank you very much for your interest and support for our project. Please feel free to contact me with any query, comment or idea at artsfoundation.org.pk.

Kind regards,
Huma Aslam
