NEW LIFE BURUNDI OF YOUTH is the brand name of our orphanages.
Burundi has been torn apart by many years of war and poverty, resulting in many children becoming orphans in the country. It is our quest to provide a home and a family for many of these orphans.
We bring in children between the ages of 0-6 years, from all over the country and from all three ethnic tribes, allowing them to grow up together in a beautiful picture of unity and reconciliation.
Each centre is made up of several 'Houses', each one housing up to eight children with a House Mother and helpers to create a family-like unit. The centres consist of an Orphanage, Medical Clinic, and School. They were created so that Youth for Christ could play a transformational role in the surrounding communities by providing educational opportunities and quality, affordable medical treatment.
The sites are staffed by dedicated teams who act as godly role models. International teams and volunteers regularly visit the sites, contributing their skills and love to these vibrant communities.
Burundi is one of the smallest countries in Central Africa. The country has sustained a long civil war since 1993, which not only caused the death of numérous people, but also brought with it all sorts of disasters: ruin, famine, diseases, crime, rapes as well as orphans and an end to schooling. The country is one of the poorest in the world and a large part of its population is illiterate.
Some people from the country have decided to help, as best as they could, and created the ‘Equal Opportunities’ orphanage (NEW LIFE BURUNDI OF YOUTH
The objective of NEW LIFE BURUNDI OF YOUTH
is to give a chance to helpless and penniless children to grow up with dignity and to be able to go to school.
NEW LIFE BURUNDI OF YOUTH ’s mission is to take those children in, i.e. to give them food, accommodation, clothes, medical care and a proper education and, above all, love.
