As you may remember from the last update, the current epidemic has put our training on hold in Vietnam, although the team have been extremely busy developing our training materials and planning for the next phase of our work, which will roll-out our training across the country.
The Vietnam government’s response to COVID has been swift and strong. Number of cases and deaths due to COVID have therefore been relatively low. Having been through a second wave of COVID cases, restrictions in Vietnam are now being eased. We are excited to announce that we are gearing up to resume our training in October!
We will deliver on-site training to the staff from the two orphanages, with appropriate safety measures in place. One of our trainers (who has not been able to return from China since new year) will join online. As well as enabling our experienced trainer to participate in the workshop, this will help us to develop our online training package, which is becoming more and more important in the current situation.
Furthermore, we were delighted to hear that our two project sites have started assessing children for placement into foster families. The next step is to recruit potential foster parents. Our partners have recently put out adverts on the radio and will soon distribute leaflets throughout a number of communities about becoming a foster parent. We hope to give you further news on this during our next update.
Once again, thank you for your support and staying connected to our work.
