This project is very close to our heart. We were devastated to hear that dying patients were not being treated by hospitals due to not having money to pay. This Pakistan Emergency Medical Fund's sole purpose is to be there for anyone - no questions asked - who needs emergency medical help, but doesn't have any funds to pay the hospital or clinic. This is an SOS number of community support.
Alizeh (names changed), 43, was in a car accident. She is widow and a single mother of a four year old daughter. Someone on the street called an ambulance and they took her to emergency, but when they asked her to register and pay, she didn't have the money, nor access to the money for treatment. The hospital refused - yes, refused - to treat her. Alizeh died that day, in what is believed to be something genuinely treatable. It's so hard to believe, but she is an example of a systematic problem. One we are trying to address here with this project.
We cannot thank you enough for supporting this and supporting those in life and death situations. Please do continue to spread the word.
