MickaCoo's motto could be "Doing the Impossible Everyday!"
When I first learned back in 2007 that domestic pigeons were routinely being killed in Bay Area animal shelters for lack of a home, I was told that finding adopters for them would be impossible.
In 2011, MickaCoo Pigeon & Dove Rescue placed 333 birds that would otherwise have been killed into wonderful homes. So it isn't impossible but it is very, very challenging and we need all the help we can get.
This Wednesday, March 14th, all online donations to MickaCoo at GlobalGiving.org will earn a 30% matching bonus up to $1,000 per donor until matching funds run out! (There is $50,000 available.) In addition to the 30% match, GlobalGiving is offering a $1,000 bonus to the project that raises the most funds that day and a $1,000 bonus to the project that receives donations from the most individual donors!
Your generous support on behalf of these overlooked, underserved birds is what makes the impossible happen for them. If you are able, please make an online donation to MickaCoo this Wednesday 3/14. (The campaign starts at midnight EST so 9 PM on Tuesday 3/13 for those of us on the West Coast.) And please- share this request with your friends and family. Your compassion is contagious.
Together, we are saving lives and we are shifting paradigms! In addition to fostering and placing birds ourselves, we are also helping shelters to increase their ability to place the pigeons and doves that come in to their facilities (read about what the Penisula Humane Society and SF Animal Care & Control are doing).
