Dear donors,
we would like to share with you what we have experienced in the PaSch project over the past months.
On September 20th, we were delighted to invite our mentees together with their mentors and families to a special activity: a workshop at the children’s and youth circus “CABUWAZI”. For four hours, the children were able to try out gymnastics and acrobatics and rehearse a small show with two trainers, which they proudly presented to their mentors and parents at the end. The day was a great success, and once again we could see how many hidden talents lie within our younger and older children. Even during the break, several children amazed us with their enthusiastic and talented piano playing. This wonderful day was only possible thanks to your generous donations – for that we want to say thank you!
On October 10th, we celebrated our annual appreciation event. We invited all mentors as well as volunteers and contracted staff from the Community Center who support us or offer activities in our Center. After enjoying a delicious buffet, we ended the evening with music and many warm, inspiring conversations. It was a very special evening for all of us.
Since the summer holidays, we have also conducted numerous new interviews with interested people. So far, we have met four wonderful new families who are seeking mentors for their children, and we will meet two more families before the end of the year. At the same time, we welcomed five new committed mentors.
On November 14th, three of them – along with two mentors we had already met before the summer – took part in our preparation workshop. Matching for these five newly trained mentors, along with one previously trained mentor, is already underway. During the past two weeks, two new mentoring relationships have begun. Their first accompanied meetings have taken place, and the children’s joy was evident from the very first moment and first games they played together. More matchings are planned for the new year.
Looking ahead:
On Friday, December 5th, we will hold our annual Winter festival in the courtyard, to which all tandems, PaSch families and neighbours of our Community Center are warmly invited. Our aim is to create a warm and festive atmosphere where children and adults can come together and enjoy a wonderful time. We are planning a lively program for the children that will bring lots of joy and variety, while a fire bowl outside will add to the cozy winter feeling. Warm punch and music will accompany the gathering and contribute to a cheerful and inviting mood throughout the event. As every year, PaSch will also hand out thoughtfully prepared Christmas gift bags filled with small presents and gestures of appreciation, made possible through generous donations. We are very much looking forward to celebrating this special event together and to ending the year in a warm and supportive community.
We are also planning another exchange meeting in January for all active mentors as well as those whose mentoring relationships have developed into friendships. Our October meeting unfortunately had to be canceled due to illness and low participation, so we are happy to offer a new date in the new year. We especially hope that our new mentors will join, as they can benefit greatly from the experiences of the more “experienced” mentors.
We sincerely thank everyone who supports the PaSch project and thereby contributes to the well-being of the children in Wedding while strengthening the valuable commitment of our mentors.
We wish you a wonderful Christmas season, a peaceful end of the year, and a good start into 2026!
Warm regards,
The PaSch-Team
