Recognizing the critical role of the Guánica State Forest in Puerto Rico's ecosystem and its vulnerability to wildfires, Protectores de Cuencas Inc. (PDC) is utilizing donated funds to enhance native tree production and ensure the long-term success of reforestation efforts.
This report details PDC's activities from January to April 2025, which included essential irrigation, rigorous invasive species removal, and the replacement of deceased saplings. As illustrated in the accompanying image, PDC also undertook site preparation and debris clearance along PR-33, laying the groundwork for future plantings.
In the coming months, PDC will continue to focus on vital maintenance tasks, such as sustained invasive species management, strategic tree replacement, and the expansion of native tree plantings along PR-33.
