Thank you to our loyal supporters for your generosity in 2019 to help educate and empower our PH scholars and for maintaining such a high level of confidence in their dreams and futures.
We are thrilled to partner with United Airlines’ Mileage Plus Miles on a Mission program and from February 1-28, 2020, Mileage Plus members will have the opportunity to donate miles to Peruvian Hearts to provide our scholars with life-changing opportunities for travel.
All the miles donated to Peruvian Hearts during from February 1-28, 2020 will be used to empower our PH scholars and provide them with opportunities for personal growth and professional development. Whether is studying abroad for a semester in Merida, Mexico, traveling to Colorado for PH’s Annual Supporter Dinner, flying to Lima for an entrepreneurship conference, or a university geology trip to a gold mine in Arequipa, your donation will help us reach our goal of 500,000 miles to help our scholars! Donate Miles to Peruvian Hearts through Miles on a Mission.
During 2019, one PH scholar, Yenivel, graduated with a degree in Business Administration from university, bringing the total to five PH scholars who have become the first of their families to graduate from university. Each of the scholars has successfully obtained a job in her respective field of study. We are excited to watch our 32 current PH scholars who continue to work hard to fulfill their dreams to become university graduates and strong, motivated professionals, poised to make an impact in the lives of others around the world... like some of our most recent visitors in Cusco, Kelsey and Courtney Montague.
On January 18 & 19, we welcomed renowned street artist, Kelsey Montague (@KelseyMontagueArt), her sister (and loyal PH supporter), Courtney (@MontagueSisters), and their team to Cusco. We were honored for them to visit and spend time getting to know our PH scholars. In partnership with United Airlines, Kelsey and her team flew to Cusco to create a mural dedicated to Peruvian Hearts and our scholars. They documented the entire trip and the video will be part of the #WhatLiftsYou series, which will be featured United’s website and social media outlets in mid-february.
Kelsey, Courtney, their father, Clay, videographers, Jason and Jesse, and journalist, Robin Raven, spent several days getting to know our scholars and gaining an even deeper understanding of how we work to change the world. For the better part of two days, Kelsey, with help from her team, worked hard to design and create a beautiful mural of two bouquets of 32 heart-shaped balloons. Kelsey painted a heart for each of the current 32 PH scholars and for the next 32 scholars to join Peruvian Hearts. The entire visit was uplifting and Kelsey and Courtney’s presence was an inspiring example of strong independent women, who follow their dreams and passions, and make a difference in the lives of others.
