We want to recognize and thank our supporters for their ongoing generosity to help our Peruvian Hearts scholars in Peru. 2022 has been a year filled with tests and challenges as well as great accomplishments and triumphs for our PH scholars. This select group of young women continues to impress us with their drive for personal growth and professional development while being completely committed to their university studies.
We’re excited to have recently welcomed three new scholars into our program: Jhima, Liz, and Ruth Katherine. These three young women were selected to become Peruvian Hearts scholars after they passed several round of interviews and demonstrated high level of academic achievement and great aspirations to use their education to help others. All three girls attend the National University in Cusco where currently Jhima studies Education, Liz studies Psychology, and Ruth Katherine studies Business Administration. These young women are on a path to becoming great professionals and will use their education to improve the lives of others around them, starting with their own siblings and family.
We have welcomed several groups to Cusco recently who have visited with our Peruvian Hearts scholars. We’ve had groups volunteering and participating in service projects to help renovate and improve the homes of some of our Peruvian Hearts families, as well as spending time with our girls playing soccer, eating ice cream, going out for dinner, and even taking a field trip to visit the family of one of our PH scholars, Carlota, who is from the rural community of Huilloc, situated above the town of Ollantaytambo in the Sacred Valley.
The time that our PH scholars get to spend together and with visitors is special. It creates a special bond within the group of PH scholars and with our friends from abroad. We always welcome and invite our supporters to visit Cusco and meet our scholars in person. Getting to know our girls and hearing their inspirational stories firsthand will leave you feeling inspired by their resilience and hopeful for the future of Peru. Thank you to our Peruvian Hearts family for your loyal support and please contact us if we can help you plan a trip to Peru in the future.
