Back in Person After Covid - La Escuelita Back In Action!

By Karen M Melk | Board Chair

Back to School!
Back to School!

Project Update: The Rosa Vera Fund is back in full swing! As you know, the area where we work in Bolivia - the city of Montero - was impacted early and long by the Covid-19 pandemic, and was put under military lockdown for months at a time. Small but mighty, the RVF was able to switch gears and delivered food and other supplies to our home bound families, while making weekly medical and therapeutic home visits. Most of the children we work with were at severe risk from Covid, due to having chronic health conditions that impact their immune systems, and we are grateful that none of the patients in our care succumbed to Covid. Most of the danger to our patients has now passed and we are able to return to in-person appointments on a regular basis.

Every child was so excited to come back to La Escuelita and see their school and classrooms. They missed their old routines of having a place to go that was just for them - fun, safe, educational, with lots of toys to play with and other kids to interact with. Physical and speech therapy visits in La Escuelita are up and running and we hope to add back our nutrition program as soon as possible.

THANK YOU - all our donors - who helped us keep home visits going over the past two years - your support was crucial in making sure RVF kids didn't fall behind with their speech and physical therapy. Thank you for sticking with us - through thick and thin - making sure our work with these medically-fragile children was able to continue. Your support quite literally saves lives.

Sincerely,

The RVF Board and Families of the Rosa Vera Fund
