The Pickup China team made the following progress in public education, public communication and issue promotion in April:
On April 20th, Pickup China participated in the Earth Day Environmental Bazaar in Hangzhou's Qingshan Village and once again performed the original environmental drama “The Doomsday is coming”. This performance not only had new actor-volunteers joining, but also gained many favorites from the audience. Although it was the first time to perform in an open-air environment with limited conditions, everyone put their whole heart into it, which was rewarded with a burst of applause from the stage.
On April 21st, Pickup China and 48 volunteers went to Zhangli Ancient Road in Anji County, Hangzhou to kick off the 10th Anniversary Spring Mountain Cleanup Activity. The whole 11 kilometers of this mountain purification was full of challenges due to the muddy and slippery paths caused by the recent rain. However, with everyone's joint efforts, a total of 60kg of garbage was eventually picked up.
Starting from April 2024, Pickup China has launched a new year's Bag-It-Away program. The program aims to unite more teams who are concerned about outdoor garbage issues, and through the organization of picking up and preaching actions to make more public participation and attention to garbage problem solving. By the end of April, we have recruited 94 partners (including E-ngos, outdoor sport club, and some social companies), driven the public to participate 1043 times, picked up 1015.28kg of garbage, of which 211.9kg of plastic garbage has been put into the recycling system. Meanwhile, we have also completed two empowerment trainings on April 10th and 28th to emphasize the value of picking up action and common learning on the plastic issue.
