Project Report | Nov 16, 2023
Resilience and Inclusivity

By Seda Hakobyan | Project Coordinator

Armenia and its LGBT+ community faced significant challanges after the war and and forced displacement of people from Artsakh. We modified and adapted our event formats and quantities to meet the evolving needs of LGBT+ individuals, particularly those from Artsakh. Our community centers continued to provided social, psychological, legal, and peer-to-peer support. Over 15 peer-to-peer and 40 social-psychological counselings were provided in the regions, addressing the struggles faced during this period.

Several team members in the regions have decided to pursue further education and advance their professional careers in different fields. We extend our heartfelt wishes to them, expressing a strong desire to maintain collaborative ties in the future. Achieving the completion of a challenging task took some time, particularly in the effort to find new, enthusiastic individuals to fill the roles vacated by our former team members. We are pleased to announce that the changes went smoother, allowing us to continue our work in the regions.

Acknowledging the scarcity of safe spaces in regions, our centers organized diverse events such as movie screenings, cooking sessions, and art activities, fostering positive interactions among community members.

During this period, more than 30 events facilitated by the staff and volunteers were held in regional offices, engaging over 100 participants. As we continue our commitment to safe spaces and empowerment, access to these resources remains crucial for the community's well-being.
