Celebrating Giving Tuesday - A Heartfelt Thank You

By Jean Damascene Uwizeyimana | Project Leader

Dear Patrons,

As we celebrate Giving Tuesday tomorrow, we want to take a moment to express our deepest gratitude for the incredible support you’ve given to our Rwanda Forestation Project. Thanks to your generosity, we’ve made significant progress in planting trees, and we are excited to share our updates with you.

Project Progress:

On December 3, 2022, we successfully completed planting saplings on Land 5, located in Taba Cell, Colline Mwite Village, Rulindo District, Burega Sector, Rwanda. The location can be found using the Google Plus code: 7299+2X5.

In total, we planted 8,000 saplings in land five only:

  • 90% Eucalyptus
  • 8% Grevillea
  • 2% Indigenous Trees

We’re pleased to report that the saplings we planted on Land 5 are thriving (see attached photos). At the edge of this land, we also planted Grevillea to enhance the diversity of the area.

Ongoing Maintenance Needs:

While the saplings are growing well, we still require ongoing support for their regular maintenance. Proper care and supervision are essential to ensure their healthy growth. This includes:

  • Pruning to keep the trees strong and healthy
  • Preventing soil compaction, which can block water and oxygen from reaching the roots
  • Applying mulch (about 6 inches from the base of the trees) to protect the roots and maintain healthy soil conditions

Your Continued Support:

To continue this important work, we kindly request your support on Giving Tuesday. Your generous donation will help us maintain the trees and reach our goal of planting 40,000 trees as soon as possible. We encourage you to consider setting up a monthly recurring donation, which will provide sustained support for our efforts.

Thank You for Your Support:

We are truly grateful for everything you’ve done for this project. Your contributions make a lasting impact, and we look forward to your continued partnership in making Rwanda greener and more sustainable.

With sincere thanks,
Jean Damascene Uwizeyimana
President, RWAYDAVO
