Dear Patrons,
It is our honor and pleasure to have you as our valued partners, supporters, and donors. On behalf of the Rwandan Youth Development and Voluntary Organization (RWAYDAVO), I sincerely thank you for the continued support you have provided for our Rwanda Forestation Project.
This report highlights the progress and current maintenance activities at Land 2, Buyoga (Google Plus Code: 72QJ+Q63), where we planted over 600 saplings consisting of 96% citrons and 4% grevillea along the boundaries.
1. Current Maintenance Activities
We are carrying out key practices to ensure the healthy growth and sustainability of the plantation:
Mulching: Organic mulch is being applied around the base of each tree to retain soil moisture, suppress weeds, regulate soil temperature, and improve soil fertility. (See attached photos)
Weed and Herb Removal: Unwanted trees, weeds, and invasive herbs are being cleared to prevent competition for nutrients and water.
Pruning: Dead or diseased branches are being pruned to promote healthy growth and strong structure.
Growth Monitoring: The plantation is regularly monitored to assess tree health, track growth, and address any early signs of stress or nutrient imbalance.
2. Land Protection and Fencing
Fencing around Land 2 has been completed to protect the plantation from animals such as goats, cows, and sheep, and to minimize human disturbances. Ongoing monitoring ensures the protection remains effective.
3. Next Steps
Our team will continue:
Regular mulching and weed management.
Monitoring soil conditions and tree development.
Pruning and structural shaping of the citron trees.
Maintaining the protective fencing to safeguard the young plantation.
4. Appreciation
We extend our heartfelt thanks for your support and partnership in this important initiative. Your commitment makes it possible for these trees to thrive and contribute to a greener, healthier Rwanda.
Best regards,
Jean Damascene Uwizeyimana
