Over 80% of vital wetlands, swamps and natural forests in Uganda have been lost. The loss has had severe consequences like loss of biodiversity, human-wildlife conflict, land degradation, flooding, erosion among others.
In effort to support towards the restoration and increase community cover, Development Alert under it's theme of Environment Conservation works with communities, nongovernmental organizations, the government of Uganda and other development partners to promote climate mitigation and adaptation strategies that among others include; community treeplanting, capaicity building and skilling and awareness creation.
In partnership with Uganda Wildlife Society planted over 7000 trees with communities both on farm and on degraded habitats to promote restoration and alternative woodfuel.
