Misaotra, thank you, merci beaucoup, danke and mahalo!
Thank you for supporting our “Planting 15000 trees in Madagascar” for 12 years. This one (called a ‘final report’ by GlobalGiving) is a wonderful project report to write.
You made reforestation our most successful GlobalGiving project ever! We are in the fortunate position that we have reached and surpassed our fundraising goal with our current GlobalGiving reforestation project.
“Reforestation is the heartbeat of our activities” wrote our founder. We keep and will keep the heart beating, continuing to planting even more trees. What started in 2008 with our master gardener Jean and a few fruit tree seedlings has grown since into a solid 4 nurseries with gardeners and thousands of seedlings.
The next bittersweet step is to deactivate the current project, but also look forward, creating a new one: The team in Madagascar is currently working on reforestation 2.0. We will post Reforestation 2.0 with GlobalGiving, as soon as this ambitious project is ready for launch.
We hope some of you might consider supporting our twin, the “Improved cookstoves prevent deforestation” project. It’s humble, while at the same time far reaching goal is not to cut down trees anymore for cooking fuel. Home-made biocharcoal from other organic matter can become a viable alternative to firewood to cook meals. This paradigm shift requires patience and training to take a solid foothold. It is future oriented and the environmentally sound course of action. Preserving well established trees where they are, is the right thing to do. Or in a nutshell: it just makes sense.
We are grateful that many if you have been with us since the humble beginnings of this project since December 1, 2011. We hope you will join us again when reforestation 2.0 is ready to launch.
THANK YOU!
PS: Roman, our adorable poster boy for reforestation has successfully passed the CEPE, or school exam in 2024 and will go to secondary school. He is growing up fast.
