With improvements in portability, durability, and affordability, clinician-performed ultrasound has reached the bedside of the world’s most vulnerable populations in the developing world. An ever-expanding tool that has grown to support patient management, point-of-care ultrasound performed by nonradiologist physicians, nurses, and clinical officers in developing nations in clinical patient care is critical and leads to quick management.
In January 2024, GEC in collaboration with Nyakibale Hospital and Masaka Regional Referral Hospital (MRRH), Carried out Capacity Building Training in Bedside-Ultrasound Scan for Emergency Care providers to boost the management of critically ill patients at the Emergency Departments.
Out of these efforts:
20 Emergency Medical Staff at Masaka Regional Referral Hospital were trained
18 Emergency Medical Staff at Karoli Lwanga Nyakibale Hospital were trained
This highlights what an incredible resource Ultrasound is for Emergency Care.It is amazing how well they will apply it to patient care to save lives
