By Patty Freedman | Director POP-UP Festival
Hello friends,
Another quarter has passed by and we wanted to update you with what’s been going on with the ‘Boost Mental Health for 3MIL Kids in 180 Countries’ project.
Our super mentors continue to meet in monthly multicultural events to support our efforts to encourage children to learn about other cultures around the world. POP-UP festivals raise awareness, inspire hope, and fuel passion for young people to develop the skills for building the future; and it's best done when we come together and learn from each other. Having such multicultural events allow children to learn about different cultures and support one another to build a better future together.
May was a month of Mental Health Awareness and Six Seconds partnered with MTV and more than 800 orgs to encourage and empower people to take #MentalHealthAction. To celebrate Mental Health Awareness Day, we released an action kit (for kids and adults) for mental health awareness (see link below). Most importantly we hosted a Emotional Wellbeing and Mental Health livestream on YouTube where we interviewed Benjamin Perks of UNICEF, Head of Campaigns & Advocacy /Senior Advisor. Our conversation focused on raising awareness of trauma and the impact it can have on the emotional, and mental well-being of children, families, and communities. This awareness was particularly important because UNICEF clarified their 5 priorities for this year and mental health wellness for children is one of them. You can watch the recording of this livestream (link below).
In addition to the Livestream, we’re adding new tags to help people discover which POP-UP activities can support mental health & wellness. We’re very excited to add these new tags as they’ve been much requested by teachers and mentors to better help create more awareness around this issue among children and to increase resilience and wellbeing. These tags will be launched in the next few months. We’ll be sure to keep you updated about our progress in the next report.
Thank you for being a part of our POP-UP community and helping us increase children’s wellbeing around the world.
Warmly,
Patty Freedman
