Greetings GlobalGiving partners. My name is Aminata. I am a second year midwifery student at the National School of Public Health in Ouahigouya. I come from the commune of Thiou, 30 kilometres north of Ouahigouya. Due to insecurity two years ago, everyone in my village had to evacuate and move to a camp for displaced persons in Ouahigouya. Thanks to Global NEEED, I was able to complete my last year of secondary school at the Lycee Moderne de l’Amitie. I love sports and was also able to join the girls’ handball team at the school.
Upon graduation, I applied for and received a scholarship from Global NEEED to study midwifery. My ambition in life is to become a midwife and to serve the needs of mothers in all aspects of their reproductive health. I would never have been able to study midwifery without NEEED’s scholarship which you have made possible. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support. Please continue to help us with your support for our scholarships.
Given the particular turbulent times in Burkina, for these girls in midwifery training, in addition to their future contributions to the health and welfare of mothers and young children, they are also becoming the future sources of support for their families and for the education of younger siblings.
