Ami is typical of the recipients of our (that means YOUR) donations. She is one of six children in her family (four girls and two boys). She is the only girl in her family who has gone to school. Her parents are subsistence farmers. Ami is extremely grateful for having been given the chance to receive midwifery training which she could not have received without a scholarship. She works very hard to master the knowledge and skills she will need as a midwife and to merit the scholarship that she has been given. Like her colleagues, Ami looks forward to serving the maternal and child health needs of rural women and to helping to support her own family, including the education of younger siblings in her extended family.
Ami notes a strong solidarity among the scholarship recipients, how they support and assist each other toward mastering their midwifery training and meeting their goals. As a second year student, Ami volunteers in clinics during vacations in order to gain as much practical experience as possible.
Burkina Faso Girls’ Education Fund has recently received bulletins (academic reports) for all of our current scholarship recipients. 100% of them have passed all of their latest national exams. This speaks to well-chosen and deserving candidates who appreciate the opportunity given them and who are serious and focused in their training and on their goals for the future.
We are most grateful for your support for training scholarships for these young women! The training of rural women in maternal and child health in Burkina is essential to the health and welfare of rural families.
