My name is Fatimata. My family is from a village near the Mali border. Four years ago, jihadist terrorists attacked our village. We escaped and fled to Ouahigouya where we have been living in a camp for internally displaced persons (IDPs).
Following graduation from secondary school three years ago, I was very fortunate to receive a scholarship from Global NEEED Burkina (supported by donations to Burkina Faso Girls’ Education Fund and GlobalGiving) to study midwifery at the National School of Public Health in Ouahigouya. As an IDP, I feel extremely fortunate to receive this professional training.
Midwifery is my calling. My practical training in the regional hospital and in community health centers has given me the competence and passion to master the role of midwifery in the provision of maternal and child health services in rural health centers. I am committed to providing the very best services I can and helping to reduce maternal and neonatal mortality in rural areas which often results from the lack of appropriate health care.
My profound appreciation to Global NEEED Burkina, Burkina Faso Girls’ Education Fund and GlobalGiving for your solid support and commitment to the education of young rural women. Your scholarship has transformed my life!
