My name is Gueriatou and today I am living a dream I never thought possible. Coming from a small village where opportunities are rare, getting access to professional training was a real challenge for me. I come from a family of 15 of which nine are children (five boys and four girls). In my village, parents are not ready to support the education of girls, thinking that their place should be in the home or in the fields.
Despite these obstacles, I refused to abandon my dreams. And today, thanks to Global NEEED Burkina, with the support of Burkina Faso Girls’ Education Fund, my life has taken a new and positive direction.
I am in my first year of midwifery training at the National School of Public Health in Ouahigouya. Each day, I get a little closer to my objective: to help women, to save lives, and to contribute to the welfare of my family and my community.
Your support is not only a scholarship. It represents for me an opportunity, a hope, and light which lightens up my future. It is proof that someone, somewhere, believes in me and my potential.
From the bottom of my heart, I say Thank You to you who made this possible. Your support has given me strength, confidence in my abilities and a determination to succeed, not only for me but also for all young girls who dream for a better future.
