Project Report | Feb 10, 2025
2024 Winter NTG update

By Salome Tabatadze | Manager

  • October
Highlights include the Tsiskarauli Tower rehabilitation project receiving a Europa Nostra grand prix, which included a monetary award. The Trust also awarded Tuta Scholarships to young writers researching Georgia's Soviet past and hosted a Ukrainian researcher exploring Soviet memory at the "Tuta" Art Residency. Additionally, the Trust supported "Praktika – Working Class Café” through a charity art auction and hosted an exhibition by Lia Ukleba to benefit the artist and raise awareness around women's struggles.
  • In November, the Trust's manager participated in an Erasmus+ seminar in France, focused on connecting young leaders and sharing experiences to enhance voluntary restoration work camps. They also screened a documentary about ancient megalithic ruins in the Khrami River valley and hosted a presentation of "Tuta" fellowship winners, who are contemporary Georgian writers.
  • December saw the Trust's co-chairperson participate in an INTO conference in Jordan, which focused on safeguarding cultural heritage in areas at risk of conflict and in post-conflict scenarios. The Trust also launched a multi-faceted heritage advocacy campaign with the support of Europa Nostra, European Heirtage hub pilot program and the EU, which included informational meetings with members of the Heritage Platform and initiatives addressing cultural heritage issues in Georgia.
