COVID-19 and lockdowns increased domestic violence as both spouses were at home and many feared for their livelihood. Tensions were high and chidlren too were unable to go to school so the noise and clamour of the household frustrated a lot of families, particularly those were 8 members were crammed into one room.
Funds raised from this project are going toward a women's shelter. It's a very humble effort and a start at best, but it is a safety house for women needing somewhere to go, just to be safe. Please do spread the word so we can get a sizeable amount to make even a tiny difference, at this stage.
Even though lockdown has now ended, the economy has not quite picked up and there are still tensions. Maids, in particular, who were used to taking the bus daily to work, are struggling to find jobs due to Covid scares. Similarly, it's hard for them to leave home as schools have not quite started. Out-of-work husbands and those who are on work-from-home schedules complicate the situation and show high numbers of domestic violence is continuing.
Thank you!
