Recently, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan, stated during a interview on HBO, “If a woman is wearing very few clothes it will have an impact on the man unless they are robots. It’s common sense." Shortly thereafter, at a time when there have been a series of violence againt women in the press, a high profile diplomat's daughter in Islamabad, Pakistan, was tortured and then beheaded by a high-profile industralist she was close to, when she stopped by his house to spend time with him.
Whether they were dating and this was "domestic violence," or whether they were friends and this was simply, "violence," the reality is violence against women (or anyone) is not acceptable. Now, more and more, this topic is making headlines in Pakistan, but still there are many men - and people - who think like the PM and victim blame or perhaps, simply think lowly of Pakistani men.
This project is about funding help not only for women who are facing domestic violence, but to help create and strengthen structures that are giving women the ability to leave toxic homes and spaces where they are not safe.
Thank you for your generosity. Please spread the word and continue to help us to help victims of domestic violence.
