Save Local Ugandan from Non Communicable Diseases

SUMMARY

Non Communicable Diseases (NCDs) (Cancer, Diabetes, Heart disease, chronic lung disease, Hypertension, Asthma, Mental health ailments syphilis) continues to be major health problems in Uganda. These diseases not only affect people's health but they also negatively impact the socioeconomic development of Uganda by increasing the financial burden on the health system and through the loss of productivity of people who get ill or die too early. This therefore, a quarterly report of the aver NCDs in Uganda for the quarter Aril to july 2025. The project coverage areas are Kibuku, Budaka, Pallisa and Butebo Districts, Eastern Uganda.

PANNED ACTIVITIES FOR THE QUARTER:

1. Conduct 3 integrated community health outreached to provide services (Cancer, Diabetes, Hypertension, Asthma and sickle cell screening) in hard to reach communities
2. Conduct 4 community sensitization out reaches on NCDs
3. Provide routine screening for NCDs at Kagumu Health center III

 ACHIEVEMENTS:

• 261 screened for diabetes
• 534 screened for hypertension
• 85 adolescent girls and young women screened for breast cancer
• 39 diabetic cases positives identified and initiated on treatment

47 cases with hypetetention identified and initiated on treatment

CHALLENGES:

The organization is faced with limited funding to implement the project yet the demand for services is high.

RECOMMENDATION:

The organization well-wishers to partners with us to implement this project. The se diseases are escalating and negatively impacting the socioeconomic development of Ugandans and increasing financial burden on the health system and through the loss of productivity of people.
